Major Chablis Salters has over 16 years of Law Enforcement experience. Prior to joining the MARTA Police Department, she served as a Sergeant at the Georgia State University Police Department. Major Salters joined the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority Police Department in 2013. She began her career at MARTA as a patrol officer in the Central Precinct where she soon became a Field Training Officer. Throughout her years at MARTA, she has held various positions and ranks to include: Corporal (Field Training Coordinator), Sergeant (North Precinct), Lieutenant (South Precinct), Commander of Police Support Services and the Emergency Preparedness Unit Commander. In 2023 she was promoted to the rank of Major where she served as the Major of Police Administration before her current assignment as the Emergency Preparedness Unit Commander.
Major Chablis Salters earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling & Psychology from Georgia State University. She also participated in the Professional Management Program offered by Columbus State University where she earned a Certificate in Criminal Justice. Major Salters certifications include Field Training Officer, Supervision, Management, and Safety Manager as recognized by the World Safety Organization (WSO). She also earned certificates awarded by the Federal Transit Administration in Transit Safety and Security for Rail and Bus (TSSP & PTSCTP). Major Salters is a member of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), World Safety Organization (WSO), & ASIS International.

The Emergency Preparedness Unit (EPU) is integral to the MARTA Police Department's emergency management efforts. This unit actively collaborates with key partners, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). These partnerships bolster MARTA's resources for planning and intelligence gathering, enhancing the safety and security of our transit system.
EPU’s mission is to continually strengthen MARTA's preparedness initiatives, focusing on upgrading infrastructure, implementing cutting-edge security strategies, and enhancing the overall resilience of the Authority against all threats, whether natural or man-made. The MARTA Police Department has adopted an advanced, multi-layered security technology program, which includes chemical and radiological detection systems, as well as a network of over 10,000 cameras for real-time monitoring of our transit operations.
