Major Timothy Maddox began his law enforcement career with the MARTA Police Department in 2006 as a patrol officer in the South Precinct. He served as a Field Training Officer at the Central Precinct before being promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2011. As he rose through the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant, he worked at the Central, East, and South Precincts. In 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and became the department's Night Commander handling all critical incidents that occurred during the overnight hours.
In 2025, he was promoted to the rank of Major and is currently assigned to the North Precinct as the Precinct Commander. As the North Precinct Commander, his areas of responsibility are from the Civic Center Station to North Springs Station and the northeast line up to the Doraville Station.
Major Maddox is a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social and Criminal Justice from the University of Arizona Global Campus and his Master of Science Degree in Public Safety Administration at the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College at Columbus State University. He holds Supervisory and Managerial Certifications. He is a member of Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and International Association of Chiefs of Police.
